Uli Jon Roth (eigentlich Ulrich Roth) (* 18. Dezember 1954 in D�sseldorf) ist ein deutscher Musiker. Roth gilt neben Michael Schenker als ein international besonders einflussreicher deutscher Rock- bzw. Fusion-Gitarrist. U. a. wird er von etablierten Heavy-Metal-Gitarristen, wie z. B. Yngwie Malmsteen oder Kirk Hammett, zitiert.
Von 1973 bis 1978 war Roth Gitarrist und Songschreiber der deutschen Hardrock-Band Scorpions. Auf den Alben In Trance und Virgin Killer schrieb er ungef�hr die H�lfte des Materials der Band. Danach gr�ndete er die Band Electric Sun, die von 1978 bis 1985 existierte und mit der er drei Alben produzierte (Earthquake, 1978, Fire Wind, 1980, und Beyond the Astral Skies, 1984).

A true virtuoso in every since of the word. Ulrich Jon Roth is one of the top players in the world. Hendrix, Clapton, Page and all frequently mentioned as gods of the axe albeit accurate, one name should always be a part of this list. That's right Roth should be a part of the line-up a Rushmore of " Rock Gods " if you will. Now folks before you go off on this list, I love and respect all these players this is the short list based on popularity . Because we know recognition is based largely on sales and not always on scales, pun intended. Anyhoo, now that I have that off my chest, building since I first heard Virgin Killer by the Scorpions in 1977 on my 8-track. Buy this new release " Scorpions Revisited " and listen to the genius of Roth. Note to fans in my gen-set you know who u are. DO not expect note for note reproductions it is not the aim, just new and respectful nods to his past. If you prefer this style of music as opposed to later Scorps' stylings, check out the following. the aforementioned, Virgin Killer, Fly to the Rainbow, In Trance, Taken by Force and the amazing live recording by these original Teutonic Terrors - Tokyo Tapes! Seeing Mr. Roth live, and shaking his hand what a reserved , kind gentleman. And a truly exceptional performer. Musical integrity was and still is first and foremost to Uli. Scorpions Revisited, amazing stuff!
