Mother’s Finest ist eine US-amerikanische Funk-Rock-Soul-Crossover-Band, die 1970 von dem S�nger-Ehepaar Joyce „Baby Jean“ Kennedy und Glen „Doc“ Murdock gegr�ndet wurde. Ihr erstes Album kam 1973 auf RCA heraus und ist heute ein rares Sammlerst�ck.
1976 erschien ihr 2. Album Mother’s Finest bei Epic/CBS. Es enthielt mit dem ironisch gemeinten Song Nigizz Can’t Sing Rock ‘n’ Roll einen umstrittenen Song, der f�r einigen Aufruhr sorgte. Das dritte Album Another Mother Further spielte mit der Assoziation mit dem Wort Motherfucker.

Mother's Finest succeeds in creating a fascinating and thrilling amalgam of rock, funk, soul, and even a little disco. The intoxicating effects of the electric bass still thrill me even today. I had this recording on 8-track in the '70s, and wore it completely out. I was a fan back then, and I'm still a fan (even after receiving a Master's degree in classical music!). The only way to listen to "Another Mother Further" is with the volume turned way up! The energy that comes across in this recording is unparallelled. The music has a hot, raw, improvisational quality that makes you feel as if you're hearing the band perform live.
