Formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1990, the group enjoyed success during the 1990s. After the addition of Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, they scored nine top-ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including four number-one singles: "Creep", "Waterfalls", "No Scrubs", and "Unpretty". The group also recorded four multi-platinum albums, including CrazySexyCool (1994), which received a diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Ooooooohhh... On the TLC Tip is the debut studio album by American girl group TLC, released on February 25, 1992, by LaFace Records. The title of the album comes from the last line of Left Eye's rap on "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg". The album peaked at number 14 on the US Billboard 200 and has been certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), denoting shipments in excess of four million copies in the United States. It is also TLC's third most successful album (after CrazySexyCool and FanMail, respectively), having sold over six million copies worldwide. LC's debut effort, "Ooooooohhh...On The TLC Tip" is a crazy and potentially risky album for any artist to introduce themselves to the world with. Luckily for them, TLC's risk payed off and the album was a big hit. From the very moment you first play the album you'll know this isn't your standard R&B-Girl Group offering. This is experimental, exciting, different and VERY TLC and VERY 90's. In fact, I'd go so far as to say this album serves as a perfect time capsule reminding us of what was good and so so loveable about American Urban Music in the 1990's. It's also a reminder of everything that made TLC so appealing.
