Krautrock

Guru Guru gr�ndeten sich 1968 als The Guru Guru Groove mit Mani Neumeier (drums), Uli Trepte (bass) und Eddy Naegeli (guitar) sp�ter von Jim Kennedy (guitar) ersetzt. Vor der ersten Platte, 1970, ersetzte Ax Genrich Kennedy.
Die Musik kann man dem Free Jazz zuordnen, hat aber immer rockige Elemente. Voller verr�ckter und Nonsense Texte, ewig lange Spacejams und zugedr�hnte Gitarrensolos. Eine der bedeutensten Platten des Krautrock.

This is not a rhythm-guitar-heavy set of free-improvisational jams, like GG's other releases, but a series of relatively normal songs in the Mahavishnu vein of jazz fusion. Guitarist Houschang Nejadepour, a former member of pre-"Autobahn" Kraftwerk, sounds unmistakeably like his hero John McLaughlin, and composes like him in several tracks, none of which should be missed by any fan of the Orchestra: "The Day of Timestop" careens out of control into fine (if rather long) solos from each band member, "Dance of the Flames" thunders along through psychedelic production and an unmentionable time signature, "Samba Das Rosas" makes for a sweet and memorable acoustic break, "At the Junkture" etc. is a beautiful piece for solo guitar, and "God's Endless Love for Men" moves from swirling arpeggios to climactic solo to a breathtaking variation on the main theme and fade-out.
Jazz-fusion fans will find plenty to love among these offerings, even if fans of "traditional" Guru Guru may not be as pleased as they are with the likes of "UFO" and "Hinten." Happy listening!
