This album was originally planned to be a straight jazz album with songs like "Moody's Mood" and "Just Right Tonight", but producers Franklin and Quincy Jones took a detour and produced songs like "Mister Spain" and the title cut. Other notable songs include the No. 1 R&B and top 20 pop single "Angel" written by Franklin's younger sister Carolyn, as well as a cover of "Somewhere" which features Franklin on piano and Phil Woods on alto saxophone. Aretha was at a turning point of her career after her enormous success of the late 60s and early 70s. She could not go on like this, she was changing, music around her was changing and she was experimenting and trying to find and decide on new directions. All of this is understandable and sometimes such transitional albums can be great or at least interesting - this one is not, it is the summary of the failed attempts to find direction.
