Rock

The Gun Club war eine US-amerikanische Rockband, die 1980 von dem Blondie-Fan Jeffrey Lee Pierce (Gesang und Gitarre) und Brian Tristan alias Kid Congo Powers (Gitarre) zuerst unter dem Namen Creeping Ritual in Los Angeles gegr�ndet wurde. Im Laufe der Jahre wechselte die Besetzung h�ufig, wobei Pierce das einzige konstante Mitglied blieb. Sein Tod im Jahr 1996 bedeutete das Ende der Band.
Die Band war eine klassische amerikanische Rockband, die deutlich vom Blues & Rock 'n' Roll beeinflu�t war, aber auch vom Bayou-Sound sowie Voodoo gepr�gt war, ausgestattet mit einem geh�rigen Schuss Punk.

Noisy and intricate, Divinity ranks among the Gun Club's most ambitious efforts; however, the dissonant production often tends to muddy Jeffrey Lee Pierce's songs, which, conversely, are some of his most simple and straightforward.

 LIVES is an unfinished project of the Dutch record company Flow Records in collaboration with the Dutch agency Alternative: Willem Venema. Each edition is part of a compilation series of 9 CDs of Jeffrey Lee Pierce & The Gun Club, and contains remastered and remixed versions of recordings exclusive to these reissues. To most of the re-releases in the series unique bonus material (studio, live, and outtakes) has been added. 
Disc one comprises how the "Divinity" album was intended to be.
Tracks 1-6 to 1-9 and 2-3 to 2-11 have been recorded live at the Elysee Montmartre, Paris, France, November 29, 1990 (incorrectly listed as November 28th).
Tracks 2-12 to 2-14 were recorded for "2 Meter Sessies", VARA Studios, Hilversum, The Netherlands, September 1991. CD2: 14 unreleased tracks
