The Pointer Sisters ist eine US-amerikanische Soul- und Disco-Band, die im Jahre 1971 von den Schwestern Anita (* 23. Januar 1948), Bonnie (* 11. Juli 1950) und June (* 30. November 1953; get. 11. April 2006) gegr�ndet wurde. Im Dezember 1972 stieg auch ihre �lteste Schwester Ruth (* 19. M�rz 1946) mit ein. Die Gruppe wurde zun�chst als Nostalgie-Act mit 1940er-Jahre-Jazz, Dixieland und Big-Band-Musik ber�hmt, sp�ter auch mit Funk, R&B und Country. Zu ihren bekanntesten Hits z�hlen Fire (1978), He's so Shy (1980), Slow Hand (1981), Automatic, Jump (For My Love) und I am so Excited (1984).

This deluxe edition from Big Break Records, allows us to listen to both the 1983 version of the album and the revised 1984 version, which as well as adding I'm So Excited, remixes a few tracks and rejigs the running order. 1984 'wins' in terms of song selection and the breathless run of big singles on 'side one'. here's plenty of 80s elements here -- basslines, beats, and keyboards -- moving the group way past some of the club and pop modes of the 70s -- and keeping them perfectly poised for long-term crossover fame for years to come!
