Randy California, eigentlich Randolph Craig Wolfe (* 20. Februar 1951 in Los Angeles, Kalifornien; � 2. Januar 1997 in Molokaʻi, Hawaii), war ein US-amerikanischer Musiker. 1966 spielte der Rockgitarrist mit 15 Jahren einen Sommer lang in New York mit Jimi Hendrix in dessen Band Jimmy James & The Blue Flames. Hendrix war es auch, der ihn California nannte, um ihn von dem anderen Randy in der Band zu unterscheiden.
1967 gr�ndete California mit seinem Stiefvater Ed Cassidy in Los Angeles die Band Spirit, mit der er bis 1970 vier Alben produzierte. California schrieb die meisten Songs und war S�nger der Band. Er komponierte den Spirit-Hit I Got a Line on You (1969). Randy California ertrank am 2. Januar 1997 beim Schwimmen im Meer vor Molokaʻi, Hawaii. Er geriet mit seinem zw�lfj�hrigen Sohn Quinn in eine Str�mung, die ihn - nachdem er seinen Sohn in Sicherheit geschoben hatte - aufs offene Meer hinauszog. Seine Leiche wurde nie gefunden.

Randy California turned in his second solo album ten years after his first, and it reflected his experiences in the interim. California had spent the decade leading various lineups of Spirit, including one full-fledged reunion of the original band, and the album featured all of them, albeit not all on the same track. Spirit had built up a considerable following in Europe (the album did not see a US release), and California's bi-continental focus was expressed on the LP's two sides: the "American" one was given over mostly to guitar-dominated hard rock, while the "European" side was more varied, some of it featuring light pop, along with a cover of "Wild Thing."
