Disco

The Trammps stammten aus Philadelphia und waren eine der ersten Bands im Disco-Genre. Ihren ersten gr��eren Erfolg hatten sie in den USA 1972 mit Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart. Der erste echte Discosong, den sie herausbrachten, war Love Epidemic (1973). Am bekanntesten ist wohl ihr Disco Inferno (1976), das 1977 auf dem Soundtrack zu Saturday Night Fever erschien und im Mai 1978 in den Billboard-Charts auf Platz 11 kletterte.
Andere Hits waren u. a. Hold Back the Night (1975) und That's Where the Happy People Go (1975). 1977 ver�ffentlichten die Trammps den Song The Night the Lights Went Out, als Erinnerung an den Stromausfall in New York City am 13. Juli 1977. Am 19. September 2005 wurde Disco Inferno in die Dance Music Hall of Fame aufgenommen.

Where the Happy People Go is the third studio album by American soul-disco group, The Trammps. If the Trammps were assembled to perform only disco songs, then Where the Happy People Go supports that notion -- in a good way. Every selection here rings with disco. Even though there are no ballads or moderate grooves, the Trammps still come across with some smooth vocals and invigorating rhythms. The first release from this dance album was the melodic "That's Where the Happy People Go." It broke into the Billboard R&B Top 20 at number 12, staying on the charts for 16 weeks. The second single was the busier "Soul Searchin' Time." A bit more rapid than its predecessor, and also more instrumentally involved, it came with a social message. With the exception of one non-vocal track, "Love Is a Funky Thing," everything here is up-tempo disco.
