The lyrics of this song are written from the point of view of a woman, recently dumped, telling her former lover that she can cope without him and does not want anything more to do with him. The song has become something of an anthem of female emancipation. The Power of Gloria Gaynor, also known as The Power, or The Power of Love, is the twelfth studio album by Gloria Gaynor. Cover versions of popular songs from the 1970s and 1980s. Gloria Gaynor's voice is phenomenal as ever here, she brings the heat on covers of hit songs like "Eye of the Tiger", "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and "The Power of Love". What puts a slight drag on the proceedings is her medium-energy backing band. Track after track, I kept expecting them to cut loose with the material and unfortunately, they never did. However, the production is slick and professional -- if unambitious session playing isn't a sticking point for you, these song interpretations should satisfy.
