Nektar wurde 1969 von den Briten Roye Albrighton (* 6. Februar 1949; gest. 26. Juli 2016, Lead-Gesang, Gitarre), Allan Taff Freeman (* 7. Juni 1945, Keyboards), Ron Howden (* 5. Januar 1945, Schlagzeug) und Derek Mo Moore (* 27. M�rz 1946, Bass) zusammen mit Mick Brockett (* 23. Dezember 1947, Lichteffekte) in Hamburg gegr�ndet. 
1972 schaffte eine Nektar-LP den Sprung in die amerikanischen Charts. A Tab in the Ocean wurde eigens f�r die Vereinigten Staaten neu abgemischt. Diese Aufnahme mit mehr Tempo und klarer zu unterscheidenden Instrumenten sollte den Geschmack der US-Amerikaner besser treffen. 1974 wurde die LP Remember The Future in den USA vergoldet. Kurze Zeit sp�ter erreichte auch Down To Earth amerikanisches Gold.

Magic Is A Child is the seventh album from English progressive rock band . I am not sure what all happened between 1975 and 1977, but a major split in the band occurred that would find founding member and main songwriter Roye Albrighton leaving the fold. In his place the band recruited a new guitarist / vocalist in Dave Nelson. One would think that an album without Albrighton would be a potential for disaster, but Nelson fills in admirably here with some really good guitar work and vocals that are similar to Roye. The material is a bit more commercial oriented, but there is still a lot to like here. Away From Asgard, Eerrie Lackawanna, Magic Is A Child, and Train From Nowhere are all very good tracks. There is some straight ahead hard rock here in the form of Spread Your Wings, and other tracks, but I think there is enough prog present for fans of the band's older material to enjoy. Some Nektar fans have never given this one a chance due to the absence of Albrighton, but this really is a decent release and worth owning if you are a Nektar fan.
