Some understated cello is added for atmosphere on the female spoken word track/interlude ‘I Mantissa’ which bleeds into one of the heavier songs on the album, ‘Madam Roma’, which also features some excellent guitar soloing and just a hint of harsh vocals. There is enough guitar crunch and tempo to keep it on the Metal side of things for example, the little hints of double-kick drum half-way through ‘The Will Of Eli’. ELI: A WONDERFUL FROM GRACE is a dense and complex album and one that the vast majority of Prog fans will easily enjoy. Credit where credit is due. They may not be the most flash band or the highest profile but ever since 1993 they have been making world class tunes and this is another great example of the state of the art of the genre.
