Yngwie J. Malmsteen (* 30. Juni 1963 als Lars Johan Yngve Lannerb�ck in Stockholm) ist ein schwedischer Gitarrist. Malmsteen gilt als wegweisend f�r die Verwendung von Elementen der klassischen Musik (E-Musik) im Heavy Metal bzw. Hard Rock.
Malmsteens musikalischer Stil hat in den 1980er-Jahren viele Gitarristen im Heavy-Rock-Genre beeinflusst - insbesondere seine von klassischer Musik (z. B. Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach) inspirierte Spieltechnik, die vor seiner Wirkungszeit schon in Ans�tzen bei Uli Jon Roth und Ritchie Blackmore zu h�ren war, galt als neuartig.

Rising Force is the first studio album by guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen. It received a nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance at the 1986 Grammy Awards. The album is regarded as a landmark release in the shred and neoclassical metal genres.
Steve Huey at AllMusic gave Rising Force four stars out of five, calling it "a revelation upon its release" and "The true inauguration of the age of the guitar shredder." He praised Malmsteen's technique and "blinding virtuosity", as well as highlighting his "obsessions with Bach, Beethoven, and Paganini".
