Early experience singing gospel gave her a powerful but expressive voice likened to that of Aretha Franklin. She remains a popular live performer, mainly in southern states of the US, without having found the recording success of her earlier years. This woman's voice is awesome and her songs either crawl down into my soul as a woman or crack me STRAIGHT up. She keeps it real and it don't ever seem to go wrong because her voice is so tight.
