Born March 15, 1947 in Columbus, Georgia, USA. Her voice has a wide five octave range. She began her recording career with her then-husband, pianist Doug Carn. They recorded three early 70's albums together. Then she started doing back vocals for the likes of Earth, Wind & Fire and Norman Connors. The sound is fairly strong, with the high quality modern production that characterizes other recent releases on the Expansion label. Billy Paul guests on the cut "Good Thing Goin On", and other tracks include "Make Love", "Don't Stop Doin Whatcha Doin", "Fallin For You", and "No One Does It Better". Jean also shows her jazz roots on the tracks "Someone To Watch Over Me" and "Misty".
