Soul
Soul group, formed in 1964 in Watts, California, U.S. based in Los Angeles, The original members were the texan twin brothers Wallace Scott and Walter Scott plus Gordy Harmon, Marcus Hutson and Nicholas Caldwell.
The Whispers scored 15 top-ten R&B singles, and 8 top-ten R&B albums with two of them, The Whispers and Love Is Where You Find It, reaching the No. 1 spot.
The Los Angeles five piece (soon to become a quartet) made a concerted effort to push forth a record complementing the then fledgling sound of Philadelphia, right down to the chord changes and string arrangements found on the album's title track. But while the efforts to complement the sound were concerted, it ultimately falls flat due to marginal songwriting and session musicians performing as if they were going through a tedious exercise.
