COLOSSEUM wurde 1968 gegruendet und 2020 von Gitarrist Clem Clempson
und Bassist Mark Clarke zusammen mit der R&B-Legende und Saenger
Chris Farlowe (der 1970 dazukam) wiederbelebt. Zur aktuellen
Besetzung von COLOSSEUM gehoeren Keyboarder Nick Steed (Van Morrison,
PP Arnold), Saxophonist Kim Nishikawara (Michael Bublé, Maggie Bell,
Jack Bruce) und Schlagzeuger Malcolm Mortimore (Tina Turner, Tom
Jones, Gentle Giant). Im Jahr 2022 veroeffentlichten sie das Album
Restoration. 2025 stellen sie ein neues Studioalbum vor.
Das Album enthaelt sieben selbst geschriebene Songs, wobei Keyboarder
Nick Steed als Songwriter neben Clem Clempson hervorsticht. Die fast
9-minuetige 'English Garden Suite' erinnert mit ihrer Laenge und
ihrem Titel an das COLOSSEUM-Meisterwerk ╗The Valentyne Suite«. Gut
gewaehlte Coverversionen von Van Morrisons ╗Ain't Gonna Moan No More«
und Jack Bruces ╗Out Into The Fields« vervollstaendigen XI.
